The team checked in Wed. night. After a pretty long and strenuous day, they have established themselves about 1/3 of the way across the long traversing ridge. From a distance the ridge looks relatively easy. In reality it is quite technical terrain with many route finding challenges. The crew passed one of the famous knife edge sections on the ridge today with great ease.
The team is now going to single carry to their final camp at 12,200 ft, situated near the base of the long summit ridge. Their loads were heavy Tues. as they have all the food and fuel they could need for the next week.
Everyone in the group wishes to say hello to friends and loved ones back home. We are able to share your thoughts from the comments section via sat phone. They are all very interested in the happenings of the "inside" world.
Thanks again for following the team as they attempt one of the more elusive summits in the AK Range.
Happy Trails.

Hi Harold!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are having an amazing time! I just want to let you know that Lanan canceled the party for the 12th. There were not enough people.
Everything is good at home. Miss you terribly!!!
Love You,
Anita aka Otter
Hi Miles, all is good in sunny Perth, still not a day below 24! So what's new ... my Lasik eye surgery was interesting, doing well now but my eyes decided to clamp shut for 15 hours, dear Jan had Ashleigh overnight and Marie stayed with me and the dogs! Getting better now with drops and the worlds supply of 'clear eyes'. It is now odd but good to see the world through clear vision - have bought some v. expensive sunglasses!! The dogs have officially gone mad and I threaten George everyday to send him back to the breeder but I do love him really. Roxy is as cute and silly as ever. Ashleigh says 'I miss you Daddy!', she is looking forward to her tea party on Monday and mothers day breakfast on Sunday - we are stealing your Mum. Ashleigh has made me lots of presents so don't feel bad about not buying anything before you left - ha ha ha. Nothing much in the news except my favourite politician (NOT) Buswell has had to resign (YAY) silly tosser had an affair with a Green!!!!! Love you and miss you heaps. The reports have been great so you are not allowed to climb with anyone else now except Mountain Trip!
ReplyDeleteLove Sally, Ashleigh, George and Roxy
